Collings makes some from time to time (especially with the dog hair finish). Acoustic Music Works has a figured mahogany one coming soon:

I feel so all alone, am I the only person who doesn't like rope binding on instruments? Is there a support group for people like me?

A good 10% of the Mainland posts I read...
...ask about getting one without rope binding :D

I'm not a big fan. I like herringbone myself. There has been many a time I've almost bought a Kala acacia uke just because of it.

I though Chuck was better known for his humor and witty commentary. ;)

I'm a massive fan of rope bindings. I'd put them on all my ukes if I could.

www.lehuaukule.com (possibly ukuleles) makes traditional (rope edged) solid acacia blackwood in soprano=long neck soprano=concert=tenor. The design is by Bob Gleason of Pegasus Guitars & Ukuleles. They are made in Portugal and imported through a fellow in SoCal. The bindings are also solid wood..not plastic.
I am the Oregon dealer. I have sold several to islanders who are in the area. There seems to be more said about them on the FleaMarketMusic website and archives than on UkuleleUnderground.

Thanks for sharing the link...One thing I realize is that the price differential for a new and used is not much. I rather buy a new.

I think the mainland pics online made the rope binding look a little loud, from what I read it is not as that bad in person. Myself I love rope binding, Just not on the headstock. I almost came home with a deluxe Kamaka soprano while on vacation, but I went for a concert instead, oh well maybe next time.

You're one of the few that actually knows how to install rope bindings. I've seen to many rope bound ukes that treat rope simply as normal bindings. IMO rope binding should look like rope, not have hard edges but has a nice fat radius that looks AND feels good. Rope binding can either look great or it can look tacky. You do a nice job.
