About 3 days ago I put Aquila Red Series strings on my Collings UT1 which originally had Nylgut. For me the new Red Series are brighter, crisper with more clarity, but still have that nice warmth of the Nylgut. The new Red Series are staying on my UT1 for now. I think they look good on it too.

The Red Series strings feel finely rough. By comparison the Nylguts obviously feel slippery smooth.

Here is the sound comparison (first 1:18 are Nylguts): sound comparison mp3

Having a hard time opening the sounds sample but that red on the hob looks lovely!!

The reds sound very good. There is a thick lower midrange on the Collings ukes I've noticed (including my UT2K). The reds seem to tame that a bit better and have a very nice sparkle on the high end. I think I will try those on my tenor. THANKS for the comparison!
