It's that time again! Big San Jose Ukulele Fun!!

This time around I had to extend the time frame because we have SO much planned, I couldn't fit it all into just four hours.

We will have our regular awesome performers: Ed, Alex, James, Eric and the rest of the crew; Mr. Fabulous- RussBuss, Young, and everyone else that steps to the mic.

SPECIAL ADDITION TO THE LINE UP!!! DOMINATOR!! We are so very excited to meet Dom in person and hear him play up close and personal!

I also have a special performance scheduled by a local San Jose Ukulele instructor, Rodney Takahashi, and his students- kids and adults! This should be a big treat for all!

I will also have a few fun giveaways! Jay, The Poor House Bistro owner, will be giving away some food and drink gift certificates. Rodney has some gift certificates for free uke lessons! And our local Uke Store, Ukulele Source, has graciously given a gift certificate for the giveaway. And our very own Ukulele Underground has sent us a whole bunch of stickers so we can all properly represent!

And the biggest giveaway of all: A UKULELE!!!!! We will be selling raffle tickets at the event for this Ukulele giveaway. I will post more information later this week about the uke and the raffle ticket price.

Here's the info:

Sunday, Dec. 21st

NOON to 8pm

The Poor House Bistro
91 S. Autumn St.
San Jose

Lets get a roll call going! I can't wait to see all of you!

I really want to go to this one... but, I haven't finished my holiday shopping and driving from SF makes it pretty much an all day affair. Sigh... We'll see.

(I even have another parody almost ready to perform...)

Heather, what are the raffle tickets raising money for (besides a uke to giveaway)?

Kyle, you must get your priorities straight my friend ;). You could be playing your ukulele, drinking good ale and risk falling down and breaking a leg or go snow boarding in the cold sierras and risk breaking a leg . Just joking with ya. Have a great time. Should be plenty of powder.

Hey Everyone. My printer is on the fritz and so I've uploaded a PDF file of Mele Kalikimaka for one of the sing alongs. Please print it out and bring your copy along. This will be a fun one to play around with. I will even belly up to the bar and lead the vocal if necessary. I've also included a link to an old version I recorded years back with my niece in case you need a reference for this arrangement. Eeeks, I'm playing my very first Dominator tenor with low G.

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

NOTE: The D+ chord requires a fairly quick change inbetween the Am7b5 and the D7. I used to leave it out back when I recorded this so it is missing. This is an easier way to play it without sacrificing much at all. So don't sweat it.

Hey Dom!! We can project that PDF right from my laptop on to the big projector screen. So if folks can't get it printed, they can still see.

In fact, we can pull up anything online too, and project it, if people think of stuff on the fly.

I was chatting with Russ and realized I had inverted the 2nd and 3rd chords of the intro. I have corrected it and uploaded the new file.

The San Jose Jam was lots of fun. A little rain and drizzle wasn't enough to dampen anyone's spirits. It was really nice to meet everyone and spend the day jamming and watching the others perform.

A special thanks to Heather for organizing this event. I know it takes a lot of time to put it all together.

Another huge thanks goes out to Russell. Last Sunday on the way home from a gig with the rock band I heard a Led Zep song that I hadn't heard in over 20 years, "The Rain Song". I thought it might work on the ukulele and so I found an unplugged video on YT and put the pieces together. I wasn't able to get the vocal melody to come out in the arrangement so I asked Russell is he was familiar with the song and if he thought he could sing it. Well, he had never heard the song before but was a real trooper and downloaded the lyrics and went to work on it. This is a very difficult song to sing and Russell did a fantastic job with it. We played it during my set and then played it a second time right before I left. It was great.
THANKS RUSSELL. I owe ya one.

I'm sure Heather will post a full report. It was a great day for sure.
