OK, So I just about finished building a soprano uke kit and I already have a crazy idea for a new instrument.
I was thinking of making a 'all in one' Ukulele to replace playing my old favourites: electric guitars and ukuleles.
Browsing around I found a YouTube video of a 'Guitalele' (Ukulele with 6 strings http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnkwcUbe43o). I figure I could play all six strings or four and just change the tuning.
Next, I thought it might be great if I add some pickups so I can go as far as playing some heavier electric guitar stuff on it. Only thing is I have no idea what kind of pickup would work best do get that kind of sound with nylon strings. Or if it's even possible.
I also thought (If it's practical), to add a selector switch to go between a under-saddle pickup and a sound hole pickup.
All this is still in the dream phase in my head. I'd love to hear any comments or suggestions, or if I'm out of my mind..
thanks!
