This was my grandmother's uke, a hurricane flood victim in the 1950s. It was black, with silver-stenciled palm trees. In 1967, I replaced the back with two-piece mahogany, and stained it to resemble my Martin 00-28G guitar, so my two-year-old could have one Just Like Dad's.
Last month I dug it out, fixed the cracks, stripped the reddish varnish, re-bridged, gave it it geared tuners, and put it back in action. The little pickguard is my pinky rest.
If someone recognizes its brand by the Formica fretboard/peghead, please let me know.
