Hi all!

(I don't come here that often, so if there has already been a discussion on this I'm sorry)

So this thing kept wanting me to "like" it on my facebook page. I ignored it for a very long time, but yesterday finally clicked on the thing.
Apparently a company in Oregon has designed and prototyped a plastic ukulele that will sound great, be very durable, and have the shape of a vintage ukulele (although I don't know who made ukueles with the shape they use...). It looks cool. The plastic is glass-fiber filled polycarbonate...I have held this material in my hands, (albeit it was fountain pen, not a ukuele), but I can't imagine it on a ukulele.

The price is $100, which seems great, especially because it is made in the USA.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Will

Is there any way for you to provide a link to this company's website, or, if the company doesn't have a website, to post photos? It's difficult to have thoughts in the absence of more information.

Some sound samples in their Kickstarter video: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/scottseelye/the-plastic-ukulele/widget/video.html

I'm skeptical, as my Dolphin currently serves perfectly well as an all-terrain uke, but will wait to hear real live sound samples when it comes out.

There is already a pretty extensive discussion of this. Search for a thread titled something like "plastic ukulele on kickstarter"
