Actually this is EU Law found here http://www.bis.gov.uk/nmo/enforcement/EU-Timber-Regulation
And so it starts in the UK, raised by Rob Collins who posts on this board. Very much like Lacey, our equivalent is a dog's dinner. What will happen is there will be a prosecution which will create 'case law' and the whole thing will be modified to a sensible, necessary agreement.
The ridiculous thing is its an EU regulation designed to smoke out wood smugglers - something that is practically impossible to do on an island with such highly developed and strict border controls... anyone determined to do it would need to have such considerable resources as to be totally dis-interested in the small user like me. I am adopting the French approach by ignoring the 'threat' whilst being very English and getting all my documentation and stock control digitally and manually organised.
First time for everything.
