young luthiers

Hey Peter..i was just thinking to myself

who are the 30ish luthiers that will be building in the future..you and I the same age but who are the 30 and 40 year old ukulele players/consumers going to buying from in the future..not counting the big K brands..
I know Eric in his 30's who else?

Btw do those kids know how lucky they are be learning from you?

rick, that is very cool. when i can get to buildin again i'm gonna build that mongolian khuur and take a stab at the fiddle. 3 or 4 more weeks and i'll be rid of the cast.
 
Yep, that's how you get them hooked. Start off with just a taste...a uke kit, some laminates. Then they start exploring with heavier lutherie fixes like sound ports, taropatches, exotic hardwoods, wood bindings and inlay. By the time they reach adulthood they're adding onto the house for shop space and every tree they see only looks like a wood opportunity.
I can already see the wood acquisition and tool acquisition syndrome in their eyes. :rolleyes:
