So a year or so ago I got a student guitar at goodwill. My oldest daughter (now 10) fiddled with it over the summer and I guess by fall she told her mom she wanted to learn so she's been taking lessons.
Recently I got one of those lanikai baritones. I've changed the tuning to a GCEA variant but honestly I'm not feeling the size of the baritone although I can play it.
Her student guitar for me is absolutely unplayable, the strings are way too close together (and I don't ever care about playing guitar anyways). The setup is actually pretty good on that student guitar, it's still bigger than the bari.
Would I be doing a disservice to her to just get rid of the student guitar and keep the baritone around, retuned to DGBE or dGBE even? I don't get the impression that she's really into playing. She hasn't seen the bari yet.
