Neither do I, but that shirt. Thanks for posting this. What a trio of lovely Martin baritones. A young George Segal makes me think of Jeff Conoway from Taxi.

It didn't take Johnnie long to start improvising.

I'm sure Segal must have been playing it up for "entertainment value" but I found his lesson to be a bit labored and tedious. I think Carson was trying to help or save the bit with his improvising. Carson was a one-of-a-kind gem, an institution that will never be equaled.
