Taisamlu Musical has some pretty nice deals. This stuff worth looking into?

They have solid Koa under $400.

I would avoid, personally. Very pretty but you can do much better for your money if you're actually looking for musical instruments rather than wall hangings. That said, there are a few folks who have liked what they got, so maybe he has improved some.

If you search here you'll find several threads on the subject. If you search at google you'll find information about Taisamlu all over the internet, most of it not very favorable.

I have only gotten parts from them, and for those they are reliable and have reasonable stuff.

Bought some buffalo bone nuts awhile back from them and was happy with the quality and price.

I tend to agree with OldePhart though. I would rather buy something that I new was a quality instrument than roll the dice.

I recall posts about these folks on Mandolin Cafe. I think it is a crap shoot. Biggest risk is in getting an instrument that was built from green wood. It was clear that some were not and they seemed to hold up. But, some also were reported to have had significant wood movement.
