Does anyone else have occasion to do this?

Short video of a tip for more detailed/precise pattern sanding - just something I've found useful that I haven't seen before.

Someone posted recently about that lovely little angled end of fretboard flourish that is found on some Ukes such as Martin.

I thought at the time that it could be consistantly and easily duplicated using a Robo-sander such as this, but with the table angled the opposite way. The same trick could be used without angling the table by placing the work on a pattern template that was angled downward to achieve the same purpose.

Where have I been?

For years I've been using sanding drums and template routers. Somehow I never put the two together. Brilliant idea! Made short work out of 5 identical sound holes this afternoon...

Thanks for posting!

MarkDHoover... happy to have helped. I'm not a luthier, but... (never mind).

Rudy, sorry I missed your reply a month ago. I think the post you referenced was Timbuck's.

I have had to use to use the "trick" of flipping the work piece over (complimentary? been a while since I've had to account for my geometry in words :) ) professionally as a machinist, but if I'm not mistaken I got the gist of working a banjo(-ukulele) heel-to-pot radius+angle on a neck in this way from your site? I shim the neck/workpiece rather than moving my table.

Funny how/when 2 and 2 come together.

I just uploaded the (crappy) video to see if anyone else had tackled the idea of pattern sanding with a smaller radius drum than offered as a robosander.

Tried to go and watch video, but couldn't access. Here is a link?
