Any advantage to have uke in a really tight case?

I just ordered a Carrion soprano uke case and, upon its arrival, I see that it's the smallest soprano case I have—it's both shorter and narrower than my 6 other soprano cases. A soprano uke fits in it, but it must be pushed into the Carrion's very tight fit around the body. Since my other cases have looser fits, this strikes me as something ideal for a sopranino.

It might be better to have a slightly smaller case if you're going on an airplane, but is there any other advantage to having such a close fit (with slightly less padding)?

Tight fit around the body is good. Like when wearing seatbelts or helmets you don't want to leave any room for the instrument to accelerate in a fall and then suddenly decelerate against the case when it hits the ground. You want any impact dispersed evenly.

If there is lots of padding, then it will get looser in time. I agree with Anthonyg's assessment
