Maybe I'm really bad at searching the forum, but does anybody know how to tune in drop d on the uke? The song I need it for is in the key of Eb major if that helps at all.

On a guitar you would tune the bottom string (6th) down from E to D. This makes it possible to play a low D if you are playing in the key of D. If you put a capo on the first fret, this would put you into the key of Eb and you can get a low Eb.

However, it does not work this way on a ukulele. Drop D tuning is not the same as D tuning (A D F# B).

The easiest way to play in the key of Eb on a ukulele (using easy to play chords) is to tune all the strings down by one tone (F Bb D G). Now when you play the chord shape of F it comes out as Eb, C becomes Bb, Bb becomes Ab, and so on. I keep my Kanile'a tenor tuned this way all the time.

I don't know if this helps. Get back to me with any questions.
