Specifically near Columbus, but it would be good to know if there are any exceptional places to check out statewide. As I've mentioned earlier, that's where I'm from originally and I'll be paying another visit soon. IV scoured the Internet but really haven't found anything worthwhile in the last few times I've been there. I can find a few Kalas and Lanikais but not much else.

Any leads would be appreciated!

Thanks 7warriorlion. It looks like more Lanikais...which are great too...I was just hoping for a little something different. I've looked on all 4 Ks dealer pages and it doesn't look like any of them have any dealers in the area. Looks like I'll have to switch to long distance UAS when I finally move back!

Anyone else have any info?

Not that I've seen. Even nice mom and pop shops only have Kalas and Lanikais. It sucks.

Ohio, as far as I have seen, is a Ukulele wasteland. Don't know why. Where I'm at it's just hard enough to find another player!

Start a club or group here? You'll die trying.

PLEASE! Someone prove me wrong in a 60 mile radius of Youngstown.

Please.

I should add: outside of a few major cities. Cinicinnatti, Cleveland and Columbus perhaps.

With you being in exciting and cosmopolitan San Francisco, have you checked this place out? Cheers!

I definitely have! I think they all get tired of seeing me...gryphon in palo alto, sylvan in Santa Cruz, musicworks in el cerrito, ukulele source in San Jose...hey, it has been awhile since I've been to AH! :D

You probably should go to Hawaii and satiate your ‘ukulele appetite, LOL. Hit these places hard!

Sam Ash, Guitar Center and Music Go Round all have uke sections. But I think they just take them out of the box and hang them on the wall.

Nothing high end or exotic at any of them.

If you plan on coming up Cleveland way, check out Motter's Music House in Mayfield Heights. Call ahead and make an appointment with Sam Marchuk. They have a selection of Kala, Kamoa, Lanikai and Oscar Schmidt among others out front, but Sam keeps the good stuff in the back. Sadly they don't do any online uke sales.

That's about all I can offer...

Thanks! That's more than I've found so far! I have to say though, I've never quite understood the "secret stash" method of selling, but who am I to say?!

If I have to ask to see 'the good stuff', I'm not interested.

I am a few years late to this thread, but thought I'd mention that The Uke Bug has Koaloha and Ohana (in addition to Kala and Lanikai). I haven't visited yet because of covid, but it looks like a nice place. They are located in Spencer, Ohio (1.5h northeast of Columbus).

Howdy neighbor!! I'm north of you in Conneaut.:smileybounce:

I would like to give a shout out to Third Street Music in Marietta, Ohio. They get some gems in as trade, and are willing to order in for you.

Someone should open a music store called
WKRP in UKULELE in Ohio!

There is the Music Farm in Canton, OH. And no, that's not upstate where older instruments go to "retire."

Ukes are listed under "Folk". https://themusicfarm.com/

It's a little closer to Columbus than Cleveland. Not very close to Youngstown though.
