Don't know if this is the right area for this question so forgive me if I'm in the wrong spot.

Has anyone obtained a compulsory mechanical license to cover a song? I am researching this but am reluctant to enter personal info into sites that say they can do all the work. Just wondering if anyone has gone through all the proper channels and what you paid.

Thanks,

Roughly $0.10 a copy plus $15 fee, so $25 for 100 copies, $115 for 1000 copies, etc. See here: http://www.harryfox.com/public/songfile.jsp

You can also work directly with the license holder sometimes and avoid the fee, but if you can deal with Harry Fox the process is safe, painless, and most important - legal.

Harry Fox made it very easy for our CD. For an initial run of 500 pressings, it ran about $40-50 per song

Awesome! Thanks so much for those figures. That gives me a ball park of what it'll cost me. Thanks, again.
