This is a suggestion about the instructional videos. Thank you very much for providing such a helpful tool! But every video has that background drumbeat. This is very distracting and makes it hard to concentrate on what Aldrine is trying to teach us. It is especially bad when Aldrine is demonstrating a rhythm or strum!

Please, please, stop putting the drumbeat in the background!

I find Aldrine's boyish charm and cute smile quite distracting. Can UU find an uglier, less cute instructor?

Deach, you're not applying for Aldrine's job are you?:) (Of course if you were to take over the instructor job, I'd be distracted by your boyish charm and cute smile as well.)

Actually I had the same feelings with the distracting music in the background but never said anything. Thought it was just my old age kicking in.

My ugliness would be an equal if not greater distraction.

I think the perfect solution would be if somehow you and Aldrine could teach the lessons at the same time. Sync the videos up with a split screen-deach in the left speaker, Aldrine in the right. And, for heaven sake, crank up that drum music!!

Aldrine leaving us!?!! :( I'm gonna miss his chunky lessons and vivacious charisma. I'm sure whoever replaces him will do very well as this UU community is ripe with charm.

Long-live the underground!

If its bothering you it means you're focusing on the beat and not the lesson. If you were focusing on what Aldrine was saying, the beat would be almost inaudible. No offense.

Agreed, Deach. ;). However, I think Aldrine should remain the lesson specialist.

Ha! But that's what I'm saying: I am TRYING to focus on the lesson but the beat is making it difficult for me. No offense taken; people are different. I'm glad you are able to ignore it!

I have been recently working on not focusing on the drum beat by turning off the audio on my computer. But I am having trouble reading Aldrine's lips. I am getting better. I was able to read his lips and body language on his "I'm Yours" lesson!

I never really noticed it until this thread came up......so I watched some of the lessons............and now it's stuck in my head. Thanks a lot. jk haha. I can hardly hear it and I actually had to strain to do so.... Thx for posting this thread though. Although lots of people on this thread don't have a prob with the beat, I'm sure others do. :)

Some of our ears are older than yours. As you get older, it makes focusing on what your listening to harder to hear if there is other noise going on, called ambient noise. Also, many of us have tinnitus from years of listening to loud music, another reason background music can interfere with being able to hear clearly.

I was just thinking about that......But even if I am listening to the background beat, I have to strain to hear it, so I can't really feel your pain. I don't hear the beat if I'm listening to Aldrine, soooo I guess i can't rly help here.... I would actually say "turn up that beat!", but taken that it's bothering someone....

I just watched the Let it Snow lesson and did not hear any conflicting beat in the background during the actual teaching of the chords or picking parts.

I get more distracted by his bedroom. Too much to look at. And as a mom I keep wondering "When is he gonna clean his room?" :D (Please don't take that wrong Aldrine.)

I was happy when he painted it.
