SNOWDROP - Bluegrass Duet

Ukulollo and I perched on the walls of Lucca a couple of days ago. We are playing an old bluegrass favourite called Snowdrop. See the blurb for more info.



I had been in Italy to attend the huge guitar festival in nearby Sarzana. I stopped off at Lucca for a couple of days to record a few videos with my good friend Lorenzo.

I love this tune.

No problem. Their version is very polished and I have seen them perform it live too. Ms Fink has a very clean claw-hammer style. One of the best. Her banjo playing is stunning.

My version is certainly less polished as it is just made up. And I didn't want mine to sound the same, so I decided not to use claw-hammer. I can't do it as well as her anyway. But this ensures that the notes played are very different. I listened to lots of different banjo performances too. It is amazing just how many people have recorded this tune.

That is gorgeous. Bluegrass has sort of been in the back of my musical consciousness for a while, but lately I've really jumped into listening. Now it's time to jump into playing, and this seems an excellent start.
