This is my song – you’re singing too loud
I got here first – this is MY crowd.
This is my stage this is my show
We don’t need you why don’t you just go

How can they see me if they’re looking at you
They love the regulars You’re way too new
What made you think that we’d want to share
You’re disrespectful – just a big lair.

Quiet ones are welcome – ones who adore us
We sing the verses let them join in with the chorus
Maybe one day we’ll let you be part of the scene
Til then sit down shut up you’re way too green

This is my song – you’re singing too loud
I got here first – this is MY crowd.
This is my stage this is my show
We don’t need you why don’t you just go

I’ve been here forever everyone loves me
So when I point out your faults they’ll say yes and agree
People like you they come and they go
It’s people like me who run this show

Hi Pa!

That's quite a song! I have two interpretations of it - not sure if i'm right. A) a new singer, doing a cover of a well-known song & well-known/respected singer & and the newbie is probably cocky and singing it "loudly", not capturing the original essence of the song; B) old generation versus new generation - and that inevitable tension between the two worlds of music, each pushing the other out.

Both interpretations may be wrong!

I really really like it - there's emotion, grit and blues - what's not to like?

Wish i could write songs!

Basically about human nature at least the down side of human nature I suppose.
Why main acts are often very careful about the support acts they choose and it is an inside joke that the sound man isn't too careful about how he mixes the support band. Usually not true of course.
The staking of ownership, the keeping of power, the gathering of forces to repel threat (perceived or real)....
Little stuff, big stuff,
Cynical stuff.
Thanks for listening and thinking and for your comment.
