I posted in the marketplace last week that I was looking for a sopranino to travel with and a Black Bear found its way to me rather quickly. It's all mahogany with Grover friction tuners.
I have bought and sold a couple of other sopranino's and have always been disappointed with the intonation so I was a bit skeptical about this one as well. Wow, was I surprised when it arrived today. It was tuned up a step to high b and was in perfect tune out of the box. The intonation is perfect all the way up the neck and it is clear, bright and resonant. Hard to believe that so much sound can come from such a small box.
Now I see why everybody raves about Black Bear ukes.
