Replacing the nut on a low a ukulele?

Hello everyone,
Would I have to change the nut if I wanted to change from a low a tuned ukulele to a high g? I already have some new strings but before I put them on I thought I would check about the nut.

Usually it isn't necessary, current set up will be good enough. Should you appreciate any buzz when playing the open g string, you'd need to refill its slot -- or, ideally, change the nut.
