Awesome wood! It looks like two different trees that grew as one.

Did someone graft koa and myrtle together?

Mya-Moe has amazing wood sets. You've landed a beauty. Have fun with the build process. Wait until you see what happens to that wood when it gets oiled!

She started as Miss Myrtle to get the ball rolling. However she is now officially "Ruby" I was told she picked her own name due to her fiery gemstone looks. I agreed and from now on she is Ruby. Thanks for the replies all

That is some crazy wood grain for sure. Cool they could book-match the top and back.

How about some rubies as fret markers? To make sure no one calls her Myrtle.

Love the asymmetric grain.

I almost always prefer book-matched to single-piece tops and backs. Yours is one grand exception. Looks like half of it's on fire! Be sure to thank Char for her keen eye.

And when you're done, you'll do a cover of this song?

Love that song but forgot all about it. Cat was my hero growing up. While everyone else was into the hard rock I was the strange one with all the Cat Stevens albums lol.

I never heard of myrtle as a tone wood before I started learning/playing uke recently and read about mya moe.
I was surprised to learn that it's their most popular tone wood for tenor and concert uses. More popular than koa.
Very interesting.

I'm in the build queue also, but near the end of the line right now.

Sounds like me! I special ordered all the albums from the local music store, so when I walked in there, they would say, "Hey, it's the Cat Stevens girl!" :)

lol, think we must be related through music. I need to get all his music down from the attic and get them put onto my mp3. Thing is to do that I need to get one of those USB record players, money, money, money. I have his greatest hits on mp3 but loved some of the lesser known stuff on the albums. Need to pull my finger out and get out the music I grew up on and loved so much. Thanks for bringing back the memories. See, Ruby is turning things around for me even before she arrives.

Thank you all for your comments. I am so excited Ruby is finished, it's been a long wait but well worth it. Can't wait for her to get here now. She starts her long journey to the UK tomorrow. Not looking forward to the bill from customs though . Here are the final finished pictures just posted on the website.

Thank you for taking the time to look,
