I'm no expert, but if that crack in the top is along the grain, and went all the way through, then I'd say the thing at least has a solid top -- laminate is unlikely to crack in that way.

The Grain seems to be consistant inside the soundhole and outside..but that means nothing..LOL did you check the unfinished edges of the soundhole....

:agree: ...maybe. :) In the second picture, the one where the close up of the sound hole is reasonably in-focus, it looks like laminations are visible even under the white paint. Definitely hard to tell for sure.

Anyway, for $0.50 what does it matter - if it's one of your favs that all that really counts.

You could try to peel away the soundhole binding slightly (at the joint) to get a peek behind, and reglue it.

Appreciate it like a solid top, but bang it around and use it as if it were a laminate.
