Palm "Wood'

A friend had a palm tree that fell down milled into "lumber" and gave me a plank from it. Has anyone out there had any experience with this type of material? Seems like it might be a waste of time to try and build a real ukulele out of it, but an art project might be fun. Anyway, just curious. Reading about this stuff, it's really more of a large grass than wood.

There is nothing about palm tree wood that makes me think it would be good for instruments (other than inlay). Same with bamboo but that's another story.............

Yes, you're right. Re-sawed the palm wood to near 4 mm. It's useless as an instrument wood. It splits like a graham cracker. But I did make a nifty art project with it. Live and learn.

But a wood chuck could. Probably choke though cuz it ain't wood.
