I was recently reunited with the banjo uke that my father gave my mother in 1959. It had been in storage for 40+ years. Not sure of my terminology, but I replaced the tuners and put Aquila strings on it. The original head (?) seems fine. When I tune it, using a Snark tuner, it's fine, but almost immediately goes off. I'm thinking it because the bridge is in the wrong place, too close to where I strum. I moved it closer to the bottom and it seems a bit better. Where should it be or is ther another cause for the tuning problem that I should be aware of?
Thanks!

New strings take a little while (maybe 2 weeks) to stretch out before they will stay in tune well. Because the banjo had has a little give, this might take a little longer than on a regular ukulele.
To check the correct placement for the bridge, measure from the bottom of the nut to the 12th fret and place the bridge at an equal distance.
