View Full Version : Unexpected consequence of Uke?

Ok feel free to laugh out loud at this but I have the impression that my balance, which has never been good, has improved in the few months that I've been uking (I'm not doing anything else different). Could it be a right/left brain integration thing or am I imagining it? I don't think I am imagining it.

(edit: that looks slightly more kooky on screen than it did in my head :) )

Perhaps you are improving your posture?

Perhaps your head movements are helping. Head movement exercises help people with some benign vertigo problems, maybe they help the rest of us too?

Learning something new helps your brain work more efficiently. I have a tumor in my ear canal, that causes terrible vertigo for 48 hours at a time. I had episodes every few months. Since I took up the uke over 2 years ago, I have not had one bout of vertigo. Coincidence? Perhaps. So play for fun and health I guess.

If jamming on uke is good medicine for you, then play away (and maybe buy another ukulele as well)!

Gotta love those endorphins...
