...I went to the Lake Anne Uke Fest in Reston VA on Saturday and heard some great music. Then I stayed for the Uke Jam (that was after all the pros) and found out I have a lot of work ahead of me. (lol) I played for about 1/2 hour and found out I don't yet have the stamina for a real jam yet. Also, looks like learning the Bb chord is a must. :-( Only thing I didn't like was that the leader played an electric uke so I couldn't hear myself.

I practiced for 45 minutes yesterday just to get used to longer sets.

It was fun but wow!

It sounds like a lot fun!

One thing to keep in mind about a friendly jam like that is you don't have to play every song. ;) I'm not really good at picking up unknown songs on the fly from watching people's hands unless it's a pretty simple and repetitive chord progression so I'll often just sit many songs out and enjoy the music. Around the campfire at UWC this year I couldn't see hands well by firelight so I did a lot of sitting out - still great fun.
