I have Aquila Strings on my Kala KA-TEME- Exotic Mahogany Tenor, and at first I had had a low G string. But that string broke. So now I have a standa high g string.

I much preferred the low G though, so I am wanting to buy a new one. However, I don't want to get an Aquila one, because the one I had lasted like a week or two. Don't wanna have to be buying a new string every two weeks.

So, would it affect the sound of my uke, if I kept the Aquila strings I already have on it, and used a low g string from another brand? Or should I just get an entirely new set of strings?

Also, what brand for the low G do you recommend?

Well I had put the low G series on my Tenor and when the G string broke I just bought an Aquila wound low G , it works well with the others and has been on almost 2 months now . I have put a new unwound Red series on one of my other tenors and following Mimmo's instructions ( on how to put them on ) to the letter have not had a problem with it .

I like the Fremont "squeak less" low G.
