Erivel's "Voices Carry" video last week got coolkayaker1 and me talking about Boston bands of the '80s, especially O Positive. He requested that I do an O Positive cover. This is a song called "Up, Up, Up".

An amazing rendition of an important song by a band that was on the cusp of greatness.

Honestly, the chording and picking in this song is dead on for the original. And, true to form, Jim works out the esoteric chords (because I sure don;t find any tabs online; heck, I can't even locate the lyrics) in a whip-stitch.

For anyone from New England, circa 1983, this song is, in a word, epic!

You, my friend, nailed it like Pudge Fisk.

You're way too kind, CK1. Thanks.

Here's my interpretation of the chords and lyrics. There's one chord I changed since doing the video, on the transition from the last A - C to the ending part, I changed a C to Em7.

Code:
A5 (2400) A C A C

Am
There's nothing you can choose
G
No obsession to lose
F
I watch it slip away from you
E7
Don't believe it

We pull the window down
Rows and rows of shining silent stones
If I hit you with a hammer
Will you disappear like you should?

Am Em7 F E7 (2x)

Dm Em7 (4435)
Oh, something better come true
      Dm7 (5555) Em7(7777) A5
Oh, I know something better will come to me, to me

Then the darkness falls
We cannot see at all
All things surround me within my reach
Supposed to do me good

I go through the ceiling now
I'm not dying but I don't know how
I'm not doing anything
Except I'm counting one, two and three

Oh, something better come true
Oh, I know something better will come to me

A C A C A Em7 F E7

Dm Em7(4435) Dm7(5555) Em7(7777)
Am (if low G, play 5000) G (4232) F E7
(play both lines three times, then repeat the 2nd line till you've had enough)

Thanks a gazillion, Jim! I was stopping your video a gazillion times trying to decipher your fingers. You are waaay kind to post this. Thanks. I'm cutting and pasting it to Word to print it and practice it now. Plus, like the other tabs youve put on UU in the past (Home & Dry by Rafferty comes to mind)< i can always UU search it in the future, too.

You're awesome! Steve

PS And you have a sense of humor. "play both lines three times, then repeat the 2nd line till you've had enough". LOL I just may play it, like, a gazillion times.
