Hiya good folks of UU!
Just a little post to share the good uke week I've been having.
GUW item #1: Got my copy of the book "The Martin Ukulele: The Little Instrument That Helped Create a Guitar Giant" in the mail the other day. What a fantastic book, highly recommended!
GUW item #2: Another goodie I got in the mail: my spanking new Mainland Red Cedar Tenor ukulele I had ordered from the excellent Uke Republic months ago finally arrived! It seems that it's a very popular model because it was out of stock with a long waiting list for a long time. And when you open the box, you immediately know why: this uke is a thing of beauty. I think it's made by faeries. And it sounds really really really good! Too bad I can't play it properly at the moment because of my injured wrist but still a pleasure to hold in my hands and strum away a little. Which brings us to...
...GUW item #3: My wrist is making progress! HURRAY!!!! I went for a check-up at my new physio this week (this one is actually specialised in wrist injuries - THANK GOODNESS). We're doing a treatment during the summer to see if the problems I have are due to the bones or the scar tissues: if the exercises I'm doing are improving my range of movements then it's the scar tissues, if they don't then it's the bones. And on Wednesday, it turns out my range of movements is improving! YAY! Still doesn't rule out bone problems and the need for surgery but at least it's going in the right direction. So now I'm hopeful I might regain full movement in my left hand and be able to fret properly again. Best thing is: playing the uke has been added to my list of daily physio exercises. Oh. The. Horror. I hate doing that exercise for sure, hehe
That's it. Just wanted to share Hope you've all been having a good uke week as well! Me I feel like this song:
(PS: Mainland uke pictures coming soon! It now has Southcoast cuatro strings on, and is tuned in D with low 1st and 4th strings - lovely sound and tuning!)
