I bought a Goldtone from here: http://www.andybanjo.com a few weeks ago, really nice bloke and sets up all the instruments before they leave.

Hi Kiwaya, if you've been playing a Gibson UB2 you'll know that modern banjo-ukes just don't cut it! Have you checked out the ukes on http://www.andyeastwood.com/ukulelemarket.htm here? Andy reckons that most of the sellers on there are open to offers! I hope you find what you want!

Have visited ebay UK a few times............you have so many lovely vintage banjo ukes over there. Many of them are in much better condition than in the states (only from what I've seen on ebay US vs UK)

It's not in the UK, but there is a guy named Wim van der Leden in the Netherlands who handbuilds nice Banjoleles in soprano and tenor scale. He ships internationally for reasonable fees and delivers great work. check out his website http://www.banjolele.net/ :)

Dennis, you are very modest!

Kiwaya, Dennis himself builds high quality banjo ukes, they are classy in terms of both sound and aesthetics. It may be worth a few extra postage dollars to check out what he is about...

Jon, thanks for the kind words. I think the poster wants an original, and I have absolutely no problem with that. The trouble with some of the Gibsons is that they are ninety plus years old and are often not in the best condition yet still fetch around fifteen to eighteen hundred us$. They often need a new vellum, missing tension brackets, often a new fretboard, when you factor all that in a new one is sometimes a better option. However to each his own, the one on Andy's site seems quite decent.
Thanks for the plug :)
Edit.... Just in the process of finishing a new one, something a lttle different, should be on the marketplace this weekend.
