Hi,

how do you name your playing-the-ukulele?
Is there a good synonym for "to play the ukulele"?

Cheers,
Linho

Hi, Linho.

The only other way I know of to talk about playing the ukulele is to shorten it to 'I like to play uke', but generally people have to know what you're talking about in the first place. Others might have different opinions/expressions.

Take care.

Plucking? Strumming? Picking? Or more colloquially... noodling?

You could say "Uke-ing".... But none of this is proper English.

That's what I usually say, proper English or not.

Balling the jack
Chasing the dragon
Kicking the gong around
Making whoopee
Sitting on top of the world

Or maybe all of the above!

Well played, Steedy.

I have a guitarist friend who, when we're going to jam, tells me to bring my hatchet. That's the best I've got.

The usual.
De-stressing.
Exercise**.

** I shoelace strap my uke to my neck and play on my occasional midnight walks.
Passed a couple engaged in heavy pe**ing next to a huge sewer canal, and they looked at me like I was the weird one.

Got it! Thanks! I was thinking the 'adz' was an autocorrect weirdness of 'axe' but thanks for enlightening me!

I call my uke a hatchet because it's to small to be an ax.
