I've not been satisfied with sound from my Collings UT1. Didn't care for the Nylguts that came with it. Tried the Aquila Red Series with a noticeable improvement, but still not the perfect strings.
On a whim I replaced the g string with an Oasis wound guitar string 0.030" diameter, tuned to low g. Wow. Hard to believe, but it is like a new instrument. One string can make a big difference.
