Congratulations Patrick, it's lovely mate. Forgive me if I've missed something, but what do the two feathers symbolise?

Haha. I wondered why I haven't heard from you. It's been in hiding until your birthday!
BTW, the feathers are made from Tahitian black pearl shell (that I collected myself in Aitutaki in the Tuamotu group). It's amazing shell because it flashes so many colors; pink, blue, green, gold, black. The shell's origin has significance but I'll let Pat fill in the details if he wishes. In fact every part of this uke has special significance. The process of building this uke was a special kind of joy for me.
And Hao'oli la Hanau Pat!

That's gorgeous!

The back obviously is amazing, but the binding, the headstock inlay, the tuning buttons and even the fretboard markers....all very very nice.

Aloha Pat...

after reading so much about the Ayers copy cat ukes...

I am so looking forward to hear what Chuck's ukulele means to you...
I know you and Chuck have worked together to build a ukulele that is more than great sound and looks...which it is!

I consider it one of Chuck's best...
congratulation again my MB brother

That shell work is one of your best works Chuck! At first glance, it looks relatively simple but when you look at it carefully, the colors and the details make it look like a photograph.

I love this uke! What an incredible gift for you, and like the others have said, I am looking forward to hearing it! I think it's wonderful that together with Chuck you created such a ukulele with such a significant meaning for you. Chuck is really an artist with a vision, and a master Luthier....a very rare combination. When beauty, harmony, form and function all meet together to create something new, something wondrous is born.
