Question about the bridge on my cigar box uke build

I have the bridge glued to the body and the bridge insert is slightly too wide. Should I tap it in, or try to shave off just enough so it slides in easily. I know that it is not supposed to be glued in. Should it fit loosly or a friction fit?

Snug is good but not to the extent that you need to tap it in with a hammer.
