For songs with melodies and chords

I am learning this:

I was wondering what I should do with my right hand. I strum the chords with my thumb, should I pluck the melody with it, too? I use my fingers to pluck it now and I'm afraid I will lose my skills with finger picking if I use my thumb. help?

Can we haz a vid of how you play it now? I think I get the jisy of what you mean, but......you know

I don't think you'll lose your fingerpicking skills that easily Just try to exercise that skill regularly, and you'll be fine

Whatever works for you. If fingerpicking sounds right, go for it.
