So yeah, I only started mid-July 2008. I love it to bits and play almost everyday but I'm far from fantastic. (I guess only time can tell if I'll ever be an amazing bassist)

How long have you guys been playing here?

February 4, 2008. Almost a year and it's been too fun.

I started in November 2007 - but I only tried to play some easy songs since then. I am actively working on improving my skills for 2 month now. And when I hold my brand new Kala Mango in my hands I am going to rock da house! :music: (this is the plan!) :D

I bought my first uke off of a friend on 3/2/2008. I just went to my bank's website and looked up the cancelled check. :p So it hasn't been quite a year yet.

I've been playing other instruments (primarily piano, but a wee bit o' guitar and other things here and there) for much longer. I think the definitely helped in learning the ukulele.

i love the bass, not as much as the Uke.

The bass overall helped me play the uke

one of my favourite song to play is pretty little ditty by Red hot chili peppers.
Do you think someone could tab it for ukulele? :)

01-22-2009, 11:42 AM
I just started playin' about a month ago so that would be about mid December 2008. But I've been playing guitar and other stringed instruments for almost 50 years (what!!! that can't be right--let's see 62 now and started playin' guitar at 13--yea, don't seem like that long though). Anyway I love the ukulele and especially I love playing' the Hapa Haole songs.

bass was my first real instrument, i saved all summer and bought one in 6th grade. so i guess its been 11 years. i love it.

25 years.

I started on a stand up in the JHS orchestra.

From there I took piano lessons and taught myself guitar. Of course down the road I taught myself to play uke.

I used to consider bass to be my primary instrument with guitar and piano coming in tied at second.

Now I consider uke to be my primary instrument just because I can't stop playing it. I always have one out calling to me for attention.

Wait..there it goes now. ;)

Literally one week. I got my bass last week. I have come to believe that slapping da bass, as I saw in the movie "I love you man" is impossible for mortals like myself. But I can still play regular bass...or will continue to keep trying to learn!

I played guitar for maybe two years, and have played ukulele for around six months. The timer for bass hasn't started for me yet. I'll be saving up for a bass uke (aiming for a Kala Ubass) after I buy my Mainland mahogany concert.

I will start, though.

I've been playing upright for almost 8 years now and bass guitar for 6 months.

I donīt really play bass. Well, I own one, and I do pick it up from time to time, but I donīt got any skills. But Iīve had it for about 5 months. Does it count?

I was a wannabe bass player forever. I got a bass just over 10 years ago, took lessons for about 3 months, then went to graduate school and gave it up.
I finally traded a buddy a homemade strat for a homemade bass and took lessons for about 6 months, which ended a year ago. I still play bass at local blues jams, private jams, and whenever I can, and I really love it.

I've been playing for about 5 years. I think I should be a lot better at it than I am at this point, but I guess that's okay. :P

12-07-2009, 10:27 AM
A little over a year. But playing guitar on and off for the past 25 years has helped me lots.

12-07-2009, 05:07 PM
Around 1984, something like that. Uke since 2007.

12-09-2009, 04:28 AM
been playing for three years now, since October 31, 2006 :]P

I love uke too, but to me nothing beats giving a good jam some great BASSITUDE

I started playing bass... on an upright double bass... when I was a junior in high school. Over the years, I played off and on, electric bass being my thing. However, I didn't even own a bass until 2002. Now I play once a month for a worship team at my church.

I started playing bass in October or November of 1980 when I was 15. So it will be 30 years this year. Yikes. No wonder my back hurts!
After I started, I found out that my uncle is also a bass player (he started in '64 after seeing The Beatles on Ed Sullivan). Before I started playing bass, I had always just assumed that that thing at my grandparents' house was an electric guitar. Turns out it was a bass all along!
I have a 17 year old niece who plays cello and a bit of guitar. A few years ago she wanted to learn bass, so I loaned her one of mine for a couple of years. She and my sister came to visit last month and she couldn't put my ukulele down! I am planning on getting her a Mainland for her 18th birthday this year.

I started playing back in 2004 for my friends who were in a band and needed a bassist. I havent been able to put it down since

I've been trying to teach myself how to play for a couple of years now. Love the bass. Can't slap and have no interest in learning that particular style.

Have recently been teaching myself (with Internet sources) how to refinish basses.

The Peavey Fury hanging on the left side is the first one I've completed.
