Is there a certain pattern for plucking in between chords. I usually strum a whole chord then pluck the same chord from top string to bottom before i play my next chord. But it seems boring and unoriginal. What kind of patterns do you guys use?

thanks

I was taught a couple of different ways in the lessons I just finished.

One is to have the sheet music and pick the notes along with mixing in chords.

The other is to pick the highest note (sometimes,if you don't have the sheet music) in the chord to find melody to the song.

Not saying that either is the way it has to be done, but what I was taught.

Pick around.

What I will often do is
1- pick two notes of a chord
2- strum that chord (down up)
3-change chords
4-pick two notes of the chord
5-strum that chord (down up)
6-change chords
7-repeat

Which two notes you choose to pick depends. See which ones sound the best. This is done at a medium tempo and creates a pleasing result.

Give it a try. I often do this or something similar when just noodling around.
