Instead of strumming lightly, how can I make my ukulele volume lower? E.g. putting tissues into sound hole....?

I like to practice Ukulele at night, but I don't want to disturb family/neighbors when they're sleeping.

I've looked online for a ukulele mute and haven't found one. What are they called and who makes them?

Yes a socks in the soundhole is the easiest way to dampen the volume....happy strummings..

its a good thing ukuleles sound happy even if the person trying to play it doesnt have a clue what they are doing. I am a noob so dont take that as an insult.

Saw this mute on You Tube entitled HOT TIPS from TOP UKE STARS. He has a neat mute on his banjole. That's the kind I would like to have but haven't found out where to purchase one. Of course I can locate a pair of socks much more easily ha ha

I made one from some dense foam. Cut a piece out, marked it with the strings, and cut slots for the strings to fit in partially. It slips right over the strings and dampens the sound.
