Hey guys!

Anybody owns or played a mako by Denis Kato? How does it sound and play? Looking everywhere and there is no sound sample or reviews haha, it almost seem elusive.

I bought it. Very nice, well balanced tone. Rich. Not loud, but enough volume and quite elegant. One can shape musical phrases on it. A genuine musical instrument, not just a pretty face. Came with dull sounding strings. Changing strings to those correctly balanced and suited for the instrument allowed its true sound to come out. Lowered action a bit, even better. It obviously had not been played very much and so it should develop very much more with a lot of playing over the entire compass of the instrument. It will be interesting to see how its tone develops. The balance on the first string, a', is a little uneven with volume and clarity diminishing a little bit when stopped at the 7th fret, but the 6th and 8th frets are fine. I hope this 7th fret problem diminishes (not many people would notice it). Excellent in the upper positions. Overall it is a pleasure to play.

Contact cigarfan, he has a Mako and it's beautiful and sounds great.
