If it doesn't say "solid" does it mean it is laminate?

Usually I make sure the word "solid" is in there, but I just noticed that the description for a KoAloha soprano just says "All Hawaiian Koa Body." Should I just assume since it's a "k" brand that it is solid even though the description does not include the word?

Yes. KoAloha's are "solid" wood.

KoAloha would be safe to assume BUT that can not be said for every brand especially on guitars

You are right to ask, some companies are misleading in their description and some retail stores either don't know what they are talking about or mislead the customer, but as mentioned above K brands are a "solid" bet.

Couldn't agree more with Mike. The guy at my local music store once told me it was impossible to build solid wood mango ukes. I politely pointed out this isn't the case but he wouldn't have it! It's one of those guitar shops where ukes are an after thought.
