The next Jake?

Welcome to UU! :)

He's (you're?) great! No doubt about it... if he'll be the next Jake, time will tell. There's a lot more to Jake, then "just" While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
Nevertheless - this cover was great, and among the bests I've seen.

This is not a surprise. :D This kid is a fiddle prodigy/multi-instrumentalist. He is freakishly gifted.

Welcome to UU!!!

however...there can be only ONE...one Jake that is :)

It is my hope for the future of the instrument that there is never another Jake, per-se (or people trying to be like him). Jake is amazing. He's done a lot of incredible things, written a lot of killer tunes, and toured the crap out of the world. My hat is off to him and then some. But that's exactly the reason we should look beyond "the next Jake" to our own personal and unique musical styles - Jake has already done these things as best as he can. It's not like anybody is ever going to "out-Jake" him. Why try? I'd rather hear what WE'VE got to say as musicians and people. Even if it's not as "good," it certainly will be more interesting and soulful than trying to recreate somebody else's message. We need all the interesting angles and life experiences through music that we can get. By applying our own feelings to our own musical styles we will be able to cover more sonic ground and spread uplifting sounds father and wider to places that we can personally connect to. That's what it's all about for me.

I had my fair share of days of wanting to play just like Jake before I realized the above. Thought I'd share in case my past self is looking. I'd want him to know.

why not this one ?
