59172these came on a 1920's martin, they are too long so replaced them. They are real ivory looking to me never seen anything like them. Anybody know?

I don't think Martin ever sold a uke with actual ivory tuners. Maybe a special model?

They are "grained Ivoroid", a celluloid plastic material.

Most celluloid material, is made in Italy, from the beginning, up to today. They make it in many colors, but most instrument stuff is tortoise, white, black, and grained ivoroid.

Stew-mac (Waverly) is reproducing these tuners again, but no ivoroid buttons yet.

I'm gonna guess that they are from a banjo and someone swapped them out along the line...?

Ok, thanks! Man I thought I had some high dollar tuners. I think I might try to make the buttons work on the replacement tuners on my martin. Phil

Martin used these tuners on ukes in the 1930's
