Since I was able to sell a couple guitars I decided to try a Baritone ukulele. When I got the chance to play a friend's HF-3 I really liked the tone so I figured a Kamaka Baritone would be just the ticket. I called the HMS folks and they had one left.

It arrived today and I am really tickled with it. Sounds wonderful. It is the largest size ukulele, often preferred by guitar players because it is tuned like the highest four strings on a guitar. I am loving it.

Made of Hawaiian koa wood, it has a lacquer finish which brings out the fine grain highlights. The neck is mahogany and fingerboard and bridge are rosewood. The back is gorgeous book-matched koa. This uke really resonates with a timbre much deeper than smaller ukuleles. There is fantastic note definition and the overtones are spacious and beautiful. Much more relaxing in sound than a tenor, concert, or soprano. It really lends itself wonderfully to fingerstlye playing. HMS did a great job of setting it up. Plays like buttah!

That may be the best looking HF-4 I have seen. Congrats!
