View Full Version : Has anyone tried this pre-amp pickup on your Uke?

New to pre-amps and pickups and saw this on ebay. Wondering if it's worth while and decent vs. having a pickup installed in my Uke or just using a mic. Looks like it might get in the way of my strumming, but not sure.

Anyone have one or used one of these:

I would guess that it does not have to sit where the photo shows, the entire top vibrates so you should be able to place it out of the way of your strum, below the bridge and back so the cable is also out of the way.

Saying that, I bought a Lanikai with a Fishman Sonicore/Sonitone preamp system, where the controls were in the sound hole stupidly placed under the strings, after a while I hated that so much, I yanked it and bought a Fishman Isis+ from China for $30 that fits on the side of the uke and installed it myself. I have no qualms at all cutting into the side. I chose the Isys+ because the existing battery/output unit in the uke plugged right into it.
