I recently switched one of my ukes to low G setting and have read really good reviews on the fremont soloist low G string. When I put it on though, it does have a nice sound, but it has a metallic sound aswell. It's not my first time trying wound strings, for my baritone, the G string is usually wound since my aquila reds keep breaking. Nonetheless, from that baritone, it doesn't have a metallic sound and actually sounds like it blends in really well.
As much as I would change it, it does still sound okay, and I wouldn't want to waste an 8 dollar investment. I know, it's not expensive, but while I'm inbetween jobs, I should probably work on saving up rather than spending.
Is this metallic sound just due to the fact that the string is new? and did anyone have a similar experience?
Thanks in advance
