Well I just got back from the China Music Expo in Shanghai - only an hour and a half flight from where I live in China. I had the great fortune of meeting Daniel Ho (for the second time in less than a year.) Very sweet man. I got a copy of his book "Polani" and he told me he has a new uke book of his many other tunes and arrangements due out in a few months.
Speaking of books, the grandsons of Mel Bay were there and they had a new book by Mark Kailana Nelson - "Favorite Fingerstyle Solos for Ukulele" and they told me about their new book by Rob MacKillop.
And then, of course, there were the ukes, hundreds of them by different companies. Wholesale prices. Remember, this is China, anything goes. No rule of law. Copyrights? Lol. Most of your ukes are made here. Many of them come from the same factories, but they simply slap different names on them. I got a beautiful, top-of-the-line "Pono" for nearly a tenth of what it would cost at HMS, for example.
