I managed to find this post of my first build in 2008 I hope helps anyone thinking of building their first
Here it is with all it's faults but I learned a heck of a lot producing it.
Here is an inspection report of the things that I'm not satisfied with yet.
For a start "All" the parts are from the wrong trees.
Neck and Bracings from local Timber DIY shop..type unknown.
Sides, inner linings, and bridge,... from an old kitchen door.
Fretboard, saddle, and nut,...from an ebony tray that the wife used to own.
Front and back...Bought on Ebay ...Utile Mahogany Sample pieces..
Spots on fretboard (Made from Mutton bone from last Sunday's dinner) type 1 Martin ..Body type 0 type Martin..Fretboard should be Rosewood not Ebony.
Tuning pegs from a Skylark uke I upgraded 15 years ago.
Ripples in the soundboard that were caused by my heavy handed use of the home made Thickness sander.
Machine head 5mm short "due to cockup trying to get the profile right".
Contour of the fretboard tail not quite right.
Fretting and dressing could be done better.
Unsatisfactory auto laquer finish by aerosol.
What does it sound and play like???..........BEAUTIFUL!!! I LOVE IT.
And here it is ...Click on the pic.
