cigarbox eleukes?

has anyone seen these?
It seems kind of cool..although
to me i always thought a cigarbox instrument
was supposed to be more or less a handmade instrument...
to see a factory made one seems kind of odd, but they do look cool regardless. Has anyone played them, how do they sound (are they even still made) and are the electric or just acoustic?

I don't see why they would be called cigar box. I've seen real wood cigar boxes made into ukuleles, even cardboard cigar boxes, that's the only kind I would call a cigar box.

I've seen the Konablaster on Elderly's website and always been interested. But the steel strings sound painful (?)
Elderly used to sell true cigar box ukuleles, but now it just looks like dulcimers and guitars:

The konablaster is everything i could look for in a solid body ukulele. the sustain and tone is amazing. The gauge's are 11, 14, 21W 36w and to be honest their so thin and the tension isn't to taught that strumming at the bottom of the neck just like any other uke is no different to me not painful at all (i was expecting it to be but its not). I totally recommend anyone who is looking for an electric uke with the full capabilities of an electric guitar. the humbuckers also are amazing no feedback or buzz or hum through the amp. Everything is flawless about it.

I've owned the Cigarbox Eleuke for several years. For a while it was one of my favourites, although now it belongs to a friend who I introduced to uke.

Eleuke released them as a "limited edition" and they came in concert or tenor size.
It's not really made out of a real, crude cigar box, but is more a tribute to the cigar-box style of ukulele.

The body of the uke is truly a "box", but the top is a nice, loud solid spruce.

The electronics are really interesting on this particular Eleuke.
It has a built-in "Chorus" effect switch, which sounds kinda interesting if you want something different.

not going to lie it is a nice sounding uke. That chorus feature sounds cool also (even though id imagine
it would be no different than the chorus effect on my orange crush) but if you ever play a gig and plug into a
PA it might come in handy, if they ever make a uke with a reverb feature instead i feel that would be a more
useful effect.
