View Full Version : The sound of an emotion

10-23-2013, 09:50 AM
Corey and Mike became close friends over the last year. I know he's hurting.

Corey's album may be too dark for some. For me, the depth of emotion will be more evidence to this musical instruments freedom. This album was made for the art with no commercial consideration allowed.

Mike lived right near Soul Sound studios where Corey is recording. So after spending time with his family yesterday I dropped by the studio. Kelli had just recorded some Cello work from Chris Chorney.

I'll share this one piece, not mixed, rather raw, but the sound was the feeling I couldn't fit into words. Words are always a compromise, music conveys pure emotion.

Beautiful.... Thank you for sharing.

Maybe "dark" is relative when you live in paradise. I thought it was a great tune and "mellow" or "contemplative." It was great!

MGM, you are missed. Once again, my condolences to all of his family and friends.

Wow, that's pretty music and certainly suits the mood right now. I really enjoy Corey's playing, cause he's got such a nice touch on the ukulele. Thanks for sharing that, Andrew.

Thank you for sharing. I love that there is only a cello in the background vs. a full orchestra or band.

Like Len said, this CD will have more meaning...

That is just beautiful. The ukulele and cello are my two favorite instruments, and they sound lovely together. I really look forward to buying it when it becomes available (hopefully for download). Mahalo for sharing.

That is beautiful.

I have confessed before that I do not generally listen to ukulele-centric recordings... but I will have to make an exception for this.

Although I never knew MGM or had anything to do with him, while listening to this piece, I still feel like there's something missing, something gone from the community.
My heart goes out to his family and friends

What a beautiful piece. Very fitting for the mood of the community right now... I just heard about Mike. He had such a happy spirit. Having only seen him in videos and spoken a couple times over the phone, I could tell he was a great guy. He helped me pick out my Pono - which makes it a little more special.

came out promotional and felt disrespectful. thank you all though

I really like the art work you chose.

Corey's playing is beautiful, and the addition of the cello is a wonderful counterpoint. Even though I never met Mike, I feel like I knew him. I had a clarinet/saxophone tutor who died of lung cancer when I was a teenager, and that was very hard. He was a great mentor to me. I'm sure that Corey must be feeling much the same as I did.

I've been looking forward to Corey's album for a while; I know I'm not alone. :)

Beautiful. I wouldn't touch that song, editing wise. Looking forward to Corey's album.
